Kundaliniyoga
Kundalini Yoga is often refered to as the yoga of awareness.
It is an ancient form of yoga that focuses on unlocking the energy within the body to achieve physical and mental health. It combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation to help people gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their connection to the world. Benefits of Kundalini Yoga include increased flexibility, improved concentration, and relaxation. It also helps to reduce stress and anxiety, increase energy, and improve overall physical and mental wellbeing. Kundalini Yoga also encourages spiritual growth and enlightenment, helping to create a more balanced and meaningful life.
My experience of Kundaliniyoga
For me Kundalini Yoga was the tool that got me into having a daily practice. For years I started every morning with a mantra meditation, a yoga kriya or both. That start of the day became so important to me because it set the energy for the day and my feeling have always been that afterwards my mind is very still and clear and that day flow in a wonderful way. The difference when I don’t start the day in that way is remarkable so when I’m to lazy to get up or there is other priorities in the morning it’s a great reminder why I do it. If there would only be one thing that I could inspirer you to do than that would be it to start your day with a conscious practice. Going inwards first then turning your attention outwards.
"When you don't go within you go without." Yogi Bhajan
To be honest I don’t like most Yoga styles. But I love the dynamic movements of Kundalini Yoga in combination with challenging positions that builds up the energy in my body and directs it to different locations. During a class I can often follow the energyflow, in many Kriyas from the lower chacras up through the spine until it is realised in the crown and circled back down to the navel point. The experience of strengthening the physical body in combination with the nervous system and the ability for me to hold massive amounts of energy feel great in me. There is also a lot of static positions or movements that feels easy in the beginning but becomes super hard over time, sometimes it’s only a finger going up and down, but after 3, 5, 8 minutes the mental challenge to keep up becomes immense. When I expose myself regularly in this way I feel that my capacity to deal with the challenges of life grows so that I can see the gifts in difficulties and enjoy the light of blessing times.
Gong Meditation
Come, lie down and allow yourself to be bathed in the sound of the Gong.
“We play to open the doorway to other dimensions, to be in contact with the other side. With the intention to create a deep heeling space where the vibrations release blocks and let life flow. Come in humbleness leave in Grace.” Our description from the NO Mind Festival 2021
The sound of the Gong resembles the sound of the universe. It’s one of the biggest soundscapes that an instrument can create. In a Gongbath what often happens is that your mind is trying to understand the sound, how it is created, what it is, how it’s structured etc. If this happens it can feel like a struggle, but at some point the mind usually gives up and surrenders. Which might create a blissful relaxation where it feels like you are floating on a wave between different dimensions that so many people experience in slightly different ways. My Gong partner Pernilla that can sense spirits often feel them in the space, it’s like they are drawn in and stuck spirits can often find a way up into the light. It is often described as a Gong relaxation and yes that is true, many people find a deeply relaxed state in a Gongbath, but in reality it is much bigger than that in the way it unconsciously connects different parts of your being and creates balance on a deep cellular level.
The space where the Gongbath is held can also influence your experience a lot. Ideally, we hold it in a warm and closed space where there is as little distractions as possible, but even in festivals with high spirit drum parties outside many people have fantastic experiences. If possible bring a soft yogamat or madras so you can lie down comfortably for some time and a warm blanket since it’s hard to relax if you feel cold. Cuddle up, comfort is queen, breath and let yourself surrender to the journey, whatever it has to offer on any particular time.
“"Pernilla & Martin really play intuitively and from the heart. It brought me deep into my inner self and afterwards I felt completely relaxed and 'bathed through'. You are truly connected and grounded.”
